Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, National Defense Medical Center

::: Medical Sciences

Established in 1982, the Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences was the first Ph.D. graduate program in our campus to train medical professionals. In 2001, the graduate program was further divided into the programs of basic medicine and clinical medicine, making this institute a full-fledged Ph.D. training center in medical sciences.
Two core facilities have been established in our institute: the genomic and the proteomic core facilities. The institute provides an excellent research environment which boasts such advanced facilities as an automatic DNA extraction workstation, SELDI-TOF and MALDI-TOF mass spectrometers, and a CEQ-8000 capillary electrophoresis system. We are currently establishing a whole campus-based core laboratory equipped with modern facilities such as Aria cell sorter, BIACORE analyzer, high efficient automatic DNA sequencer, nuclear magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy systems, etc.
